Painting and the Will
Working with Egg-Tempera and pigments we will not only learn a technique, but also find new ways to be inspired without subordinating our work under the tyranny of an “idea“.
Intentions are always based on mental images, which are constructed from our past experiences. How can something new come into being if everything we intend is “past-oriented,” or in other words a “good idea“?
Painting can teach us something about the possibility of the new, of what has never happened before, what we have never seen, which is a surprise. It is in this moment, when painting becomes an event, that the time-stream out of the future takes hold of the work and the unknown breaks into visibility, creating a supersensible -sensible event; what we call Art.
